Hermitage in Zaandam

December 2010 – The Hermitage, the new construction project in the area around Zaandam railway station, includes a total of 105 homes, 11,000 m2 of shops, an underground car park and a cinema. The end plates for the steel profile components were cut to size by De Boer Snijbedrijf. All the steel that comes into contact with the air, including the steel in the cavity walls, was galvanised by Verzinkerij Heerhugowaard and given a twin layer of powder coating by Poedercoating Heerhugowaard.

The Hermitage is the link between the large-scale redevelopment activities in the area of Zaandam railway station and the smaller traditional homes in the city centre. The Hermitage comprises a total of 105 homes, 11,000 m2 of shops, an underground car park and a cinema. A striking feature is The Tzar, a high-rise block of flats with a stepped gable that gives the centre an urban atmosphere. The canalside houses are more a source of calm. Alongside them, there is a line of Zaan warehouses and a row of staggered 'sawtooth' homes that introduce a lively note.

Constructor Staalbouw from Heerhugowaard supplied the Hermitage with steel structures for staircases, floor and concrete structures, roof frames and roof structures, and a range of fencing and balconies, rails and fall prevention features.
